Traffic lights: reading signals calmly

A traffic light is not only a simple go-or-stop command. A driver still checks pedestrians, traffic ahead and whether a maneuver can be completed safely.

A flashing green signal warns that the permissive phase is about to change. Yellow usually means stop if it can be done without harsh braking.

We also cover arrow sections: they may allow movement in a specific direction, but they do not cancel the duty to yield where required.

In lessons we train decisions, not memorized answers: when to stop, when to finish movement and how not to block an intersection.

How we train this in class
  • break the rule down on a clear diagram
  • reinforce it with test questions
  • move the situation to a real Dnipro route
