Lesson 13

Railway crossings: signs, barriers and stopping

Approaching crossings, restrictions, following distance and what to do when crossing is unsafe.

Railway crossings: signs, barriers and stopping

A railway crossing requires maximum predictability: slow down, read signs, check signals and do not enter the tracks without free space ahead.

Do not bypass a closed or closing barrier, proceed on a prohibitory signal or stop on the crossing.

We explain where to stop, how to act in a queue near tracks and why rushing at crossings is extremely dangerous.

How we train this in class
  • break the rule down on a clear diagram
  • reinforce it with test questions
  • move the situation to a real Dnipro route
